A Weatherman’s New Year

A Weatherman’s New Year

Negativland

Jan. 9, 2015

A densely packed show of more Weatherman tapes made around his house, on Over The Edge over the years, and bits from his several Negativland OTE CD releases, such as “The Dumb Stupid Come Out Line,” “The Willsaphone Stupid Show,” and “Sex Dirt.” As the years pass by in playback, thank God, if there was one, he remains the same lovable voice as always.

A Weatherman’s Christmas

A Weatherman’s Christmas

Negativland

Dec. 26, 2014

A mix of tapes of and by The Weatherman, including his family in the Christmas kitchen, rambling thoughts of The Weatherman, edits of Seat Bee Sate and and Limbo, and lots of snipits and clipits of the great man collected over many decades of microphone usage, all accompanied by a mix of known and unknown Christmas music.

Internet Radio

April 27, 2004
Richard Lyons, The
Weatherman, Don

We give over 5 hours of programming to the Weathermans house in Seattle where he and Dick send out their audio files via Shoutcast, and then we connect to Shoutcast and send them out via KPFA. This works great, with very clean sound, and we also get to hear the Weatherman go to the bathroom, wander around his garage, and all their other fully miked events in Seattle. Complicating the situation, we also have Richard manning a live phone on our air to bypass the Internet delay involved or just play with repeating ourselves. We were all pleased and surprised this worked so well, and Im sure well do it again. No one had any idea if this was legal broadcasting or not.

The Black Death Debate

June 21, 2001
Negativland and Russ Schoenwitter

Negativland’s Pastor Dick and Harold Camping of Family Radio fame join in debate with Black/Death Metal collector, Santo Gold, and The Weatherman as we expose this world of occult guitar noise and argue its merits for today’s teenagers. Dayle Embree reads Black/Death Metal lyrics, Harold does the math, Bibles are quoted, and the music wails.

Pastor Dick interviews The Weatherman while he dips his microphone in club soda concerning his intimated involvement in a real life mass murder which was committed by someone he shared Goth records with. Callers join this crucial sociological debate, along with some actual exorcisms to the Satanic strains of Black Metal, Death Metal, Doom Metal, and Speed Metal music from Scandinavia, Europe, and America. A must-hear for everyone afraid of music.

The Willsaphone Release Party

March 1994
Almost Negativland

The Weatherman shows up with his two bodyguards and a power book user to celebrate the official release of “The Willsaphone Stupid Show” double CD. This is one big on-air party, copyrighted crowd in the background and all. There’s ham jamming, CB remoting, green slime punching, an extremely rare appearance of the OTE Wheel of Fortune, and jokes made up right on the spot. They don’t come any more crowded than this.

A Piddle Diddle Disneyland

August, 1993
Negativland

We join Doug Piddle and Peter Diddle of “The Piddle Diddle Report” as they broadcast live from Disneyland. Joining Doug and Peter is Rex Everything, famous unpublishable author, and modern noise group Negativland. While Rex knowledgeably exposes every dark little nook and cranny in the sordid history of Disneyland, the Weatherman is taking one ride after another and reporting via CB to Doug and Peter’s skybox on the Matterhorn. In between, Negativland does some kind of noise manipulation thing with Disney material. Highly irreverent and probably even more illegal, this show is a radio-only gem.

The J Brigade

July, 1986

Pastor Dick rides the roller coaster of irreverent and satanic callers as he attempts another program on faith alone. Christian news, Christian weather, and Christian music from the J Brigade. The Bible Quiz, Big Brotherhood Companions, Mormons exposed, an inspirational song for children almost sung by Ralph Vivian Lust, stories for young people, and the Family Hour. The Weatherman is in an unusually bad mood and quits the group.
