/”All Art Radio/”

Solo- June 18, 2010

While mashing Mahler, we mix in discussions about the brains visual connections made inside our heads, the physical dimensions of sight and light, the organic operation of our eyes, a spirited debate about the ethnic/racial nature of art differences, radio art, Bressons photography, Firesign Theater does an LPs worth of Shakespearian parody, and the fastest painter alive.

After announcing a death in fandom, we cover the art of architecture, Magritte, Picasso & Braque encountering early film making, the Doors bust for concert obscenity, Jello Biafras bust for recorded obscenity, Buckminster Fuller on art economics, the art market mentality, and the rise of new art in China.

All Art Radio The Beatles April 23, 2010

Wobbly, Trademark G, Phineas Narco, Don.
Our trio of guests play together without me for the first 45 minutes, then I join in the mix for the rest of the show. This is all an intense mash/mix of The Beatles and everything they did in and out of music from beginning to end. Our sounds are made exclusively from Beatles material of all kinds and a few covers, including the amazing Rutles. A live and lively group mix that does not let up.

Audio noise art continues with examples from many musicians and other artists. An L.A. museum director lays out the standards for museum acquisition, the huge Pop Art works and installation processes of Artschwager and Rosenquist are described, Escalator Over The Hill, The Weathermans mouth noises, callers with questions, Crosley Bendix reviews numbers, and the all art beat goes on.

All Art Radio April 9, 2010

Solo
A somewhat abrasive episode full of cut-up, Hip Hop, and glitch music concerned with sampling and modern noise, including live bits from the “Plunderpalooza” performance from 1997 and Crosley Bendix reviewing “progress.” Also, “The Way Of Art” is explained and described, historical noise art, and audio and visual artists speak about their pieces. Then I sit in to host The Puzzling Evidence Show for another two hours with Philo and Dr. Hal.

All Art Radio March 26, 2010

Solo
Beginning with Manets Olympia, 19th Century Impressionism, and what they were after, we move on through the effects on art of the industrial age and technological evolution, move into a live performance of Negativlands Booper Symphony #1, which continues with many more bits on the procedural and philosophical practice of art, museums speaking, and painters on their paintings. Also Izzy Isnt meets Happy Hazard.

Solo
We begin with Joey Scaggs discussing the ins and outs of making his hoax art to the tune of Negativlands little hoax, Helter Stupid. Then a painting popularity poll, furniture, architecture, and some intimate feelings they can evoke, and a lot of commentary by artists and critics on modernism and post modernism and where it all might be going, backed up by noise from art music and our phone Receptacle.

All Art Radio March 12, 2010

Max, Tim, Matt, Don.
Three long time listeners with noisemakers join me on the air in this All Art mix of artists, curators, and critics. Kraftwerk is featured with their synthesis of electronic and industrial music and noise and minimalism in art continues as art imitates the age of the machine. Also, the working process of Robert Rauschenberg, Van Gough suffers and goes insane, pitch in sound is explored, one woman caller stays on the air for the whole show, and more.

Jon Leidecker, Don.
Wobbly joins me for this live mix of James Joyce, Jackson Pollock, and more. We begin with a mix of Finnegans Wake with itself – a mashed up, simultaneous layering from four discs of the read masterwork. Then we move on with general All Art
commentary and a detailed analysis of the all-over drip paintings of Jackson Pollock from the late ‘40s and early ‘50s. A dense, /”difficult listening/” mix that never lets up but containing many happy, spattering sound collisions.

A multiply diverse mix of odd outer art music and artists set in music as in DJ Spookys Rhythm Science and The Art Of Noises Debussy. Also Carl Andres bricks, Cristos Rocky Mountain river work, Anti-art from 60 Minutes and an ensuing media debate about it, Art For Arts Sake, novel writing, and general artist and critic commentary on what art might be and how to do it. Lots of Receptacle callers also chime in and we lose KZFR for good.
