DAY 13:
Two days without car troubles being too good to be true, van #1 begins billowing black smoke and leaking oil immediately upon beginning the exit from Toronto. Turns out mechanics back in California installed the wrong motor mount, and did so incorrectly, to boot. They've pierced the oil filter, which is leaking and totally jammed on. Another incredibly expensive rental van gets the group across the border, sans Michael, who is left behind to oversee the repair on van #1.
Crosley Bendix gives an impromptu arts review in the parking lot of Niagara Falls, New York, just over the Canadian border, when innocents stray into frequencies on the group's "Family Radio" walkie talkies. At a gas station near Buffalo, the crew magically bumps into Michael in the repaired van #1, who happens to have stopped at the same place.
A decision is made to postpone the night's show, in Cleveland, until the following night. The caravan is so far behind schedule that there's no way to make it to Ohio in time. And Pittsburgh has cancelled entirely due to low ticket sales.
