DAY 7: Peter has lost his toothbrush in Lincoln; the message is made abundantly clear when two people independently buy him replacement toothbrushes. Upon attempting to leave Minneapolis in rush hour traffic, a Mitsubishi SUV rear ends van #2 with a very loud crash heard three car lengths ahead by those in van #1. Anne's neck has snapped forward and backwards by the impact, but Bob and Mike appear unhurt. Richard doesn't appear to notice Anne's possible whiplash and enthuses about how much money we'll no doubt make from the insurance settlement. Eventually Anne is taken to the hospital emergency room while six-figure sums dance in Richard's head. Turns out she's OK, but sore. It was just a mild concussion. The now severely dented-in van #2 is taken in for transmission service... and the report is bad: the rear brakes are next to useless, too. First of two insanely overpriced rental vehicles gets the gear to the next show in Madison while the ailing van is driven to the next scheduled city, Chicago, by our temporary 13th member, Bob.
